A Different Life

When your words hurt, I smile.

When an opportunity presents itself, I hesitate.

When a new friend is granted, I distance myself.

When charity is offered to me, I ponder accepting it.

When your words hurt, I smile.

Remove the glued, molded mask, and who am I?

When your words hurt, I cry to you.

When a new opportunity presents itself, I pounce onto it.

When a new friend is granted, I instantly become attached.

When charity is offered to me, I instantly accept.

When your words hurt, I cry to you.

I wonder what it would be like to take the mask off forever.

If so, life would be different.

If so, my parents would have long restless nights.

If so, I would be a weak-minded person.

If so, I would be greedy.

If so, I would be less appreciate of things in life.

If so, my life would be an open book.

If so, I would have no memorable secrets.

If so, life would be different.

Life could be different,

My parents rest peacefully through the night.

I am strong-minded.

I am giving.

I am humble and thankful.

I have a healthy amount of privacy.

I cherish my personal memories.

Life could be different,

But I would never want it to be.
