Develop Me In The Darkroom
Location
Take her picture
Watch her face develop
I look just like her
But I am enveloped
Because of that face
That one JPEG file
Take your finger and trace
All the curves of my smile
And my cheeks so hollow
Pictures of me are shadows
I cannot help but follow
Through the highs and the lows
My smile is steadfast
My eyes are still bright
How long can my facade last?
We need the perfect light
To capture the framed deception
That is just my irrelevant body
But also my only protection
For it is my mind that is rotting
Because outside I am smiling
Outside my tears are drying
Inside I am dying
Inside I can't stop crying
Develop me in the darkroom
Every detail of me appears
Except the parts of me in ruin
All my photos are broken mirrors
Take the glass and scratch me out
Because everything you see
Everything shot in doubt
Is anything but me
