Demise's Disguise

My mask is flawless,

The china well-polished

Emotions concealed

Only happiness revealed

The paint carefully applied;

Perfect to the plain eye

But take more than a glance,

And there's quite a chance

You'll see deep within

The agony I hide

From the seas of eyes

It lurks just beneath

The darkness bequeathed

My soul's worst traumas

Are not some pity dramas

I'm a girl of disaster

Hidden behind plaster

Ask me a series

of serious inquiries

And to your surprise

You'll find the demise

But when I look in the mirror

I see it all quite clearer

I am more than my pain

And there's so much to gain

By getting to see me

And the true inner beauty

Others have witnessed in me

They say I am kind

And of a wise mind

My inner strength is bold;

My arms are a loving hold

Compassionate, radiant, giving selfless care

Trustworthy and worthwhile,

There is more just beyond my smile

If you care about more than my mask

I'll let it crack open

And you'll see the girl

That is far more than broken
