My last name is spelt G-O-N-Z-A-L-E-Z

I share this name with many.

I share it with mothers and fathers, with farmers and buiness men

I share it with the majority of my school

I share it with thugs

I share it with priests

I share it with people I will never meet

I share it with people I wish I hasn't

This name paints me in the colors of a heritage I never asked for but would never refuse

This name is pronouced many ways.

It is pronunced Spick

It is pronounced Wet back

Beaner

Cheap labor

Jumper

But this is not as the dictionary told me to say it.

It is pronouced Gonzalez

So it makes me wonder from time to time, how exactly it  got so lost in translation.

How the definition was so blurred from mouth a to mind b

How it was lost in a second and no one thought to look

But we have more important things to deal with right now

So what is it to the world if it loses one more definition?
