Define

What defines us?

Us humans, wandering the earth?

Who are we to say that fate shapes us,

Or that we have a path paved for us?

We have a design, yes,

But the instructions are

Unique for each of us

What shapes us?

Our parents,

Our friends,

Our experiences?

How about our loves,

Our passions, our hatreds, our fears?

We are all beautifully crafted by loving hands,

But we have broken ourselves,

Tarnished our shining souls,

Rusted our minds,

Trashed our dreams,

And spit on the toes of our Creator

Yet, we are still allowed

To define ourselves

Why?

When we are so disobedient?

Like rebellious children

Under the feet of majesty

Who are we to criticize?

We have only just begun to understand our workings

What can we assume of others?

Nothing, nothing at all

We define ourselves,

And that gift is

Often our downfall

But it is still a gift,

The certainty of free wall
