Dear Storyteller

Tue, 08/29/2017 - 13:05 -- Kat L

You sigh at the words

Once Upon A Time

Such a great bore they are now

Maybe it brought excitement once,

quite sometime ago before you heard the phrase

Over and over and over

All it does is signal the beginning of bed time

But what if dear storyteller

What if

The dragon lives and befriends the knight

And together they save princess and propers and kings and soldiers

The sleeping princess can’t be waken by a boy

Because her true love is the neighbouring princess

The evil stepmother gets some help

And learns to love herself

The fairy godmother goes and provides education

Because what greater freedom is there then knowing how to free yourself

Or

What if

The dragon kills the knight and keeps the maiden

Because she is the only person to show him kindness

The princess never takes the apple or pricks her finger

And saves herself using wits alone

The evil stepmother plans succeed

Because being queen is all she would ever need

The fairy godmother never rises and helps the hero

And because the Evil Queen is still in her charge

We beg you dear storyteller

To not sing the same tone

Instead add a new twist

Something you would've wanted too
