Dear Me

Dear younger me

Don’t grow up too fast

Stay young and simple

Oblivion does not last

Soon enough you’ll know

How much really goes on

In the life of teenagers

Once innocent and young

And once you come to know

Promise me just this

You’ll stay true to you

And you’ll find your own bliss

Don’t adapt to the crowds

Don’t consume the whiskey jug

To this life you’ll be addicted

Their approval will be your drug

I know they seem invincible

It’s not all fun and games

Behind their smiles and recklessness

Is fear and so much shame

So if you feel temptation

Turn and run so far

Until you are surrounded

By the Peace above the stars
