Darwin Slam Poem: Nature I Love

I can only tell you for what has been preexisting

my travels, a wonder, a phenomenon, I have experienced

As though such a man ever believed in me

I proved to myself, I could make do

With no money, and nowhere to be

I reflected upon

what the Earth gave me

through the quakes and realizations

Nature I saw around me

Nature I studied

Nature I learned from

Species howling, barking

Species flying, floating

species here one day, gone the next

Earth changing, ever so slightly

Earth, having already changed ever so slightly

Earth continuing to change ever so slightly

I write in my book for what I have observed

time has brought this change, and I have been witness

Through this mad race for fitness

I live through the echoes of what has already been done

Life forms having existed before

holding the key

the key to the secret of all lifeforms

the ancestor of which we all share

we all are one

and exclusive by our own sequence

Its a wing

no, its a hand,

from the same place they originate, or do they?

I have learned and shared so much, for it is

Nature I saw around me

Nature I studied

Nature I learned from

Nature I love
