From the Darkness
In the dark of my life I did what was to be done
I followed every order under the sun
Day after day I would sing the same song
Every night in my dreams there I saw a row of black beasts
Then day after day I would walk the streets
with numbness in my heart and anger in my head
I showed my enemies a world of dread
The loud cracks echoing through the buildings and their heads duck but not mine
Night comes, but I am not Blind
I then see 7 black stallions staring back at me
I felt nothing and only thought it weird and again the next morning I caused only fear
As I stroll along in the streets I feel a presence walking there beside me
I paid it no heed
I did not know, I walked through this world unaware
I don't know why it is I must not care, but I do
Something keeps telling me I need not share, but I do
I walk the streets in these boots
Searching the ground, looking for clues
I look up to see the world looking down at me
It is as if I hold its weight and can not get free
Shaking and straining but I never falter
Holding it there like a boulder, as Atlas
Now looking forward I then now see
Standing shoulder to shoulder staring at me
The giant black stallions, so brilliant, so dark
I feel them moving through me
In my head, like a spark
I feel their strength and power
Now I begin to feel
Their fire running through my veins
I found myself jumping, grabbing a fist full of mane
I rode on for I did not know where I was going
My head was clear as we rode along a manger
As we were leaping over the rail fence
I could feel my heart beating, as if it were a stranger
My sight became clearer
Flying as it seemed across the land
My gaze fixed on the horizon
I rode on till the dirt became sand
The thin glow of gold still lay upon the hills of water
I pulled the reins and we galloped on into the night
The further I went the closer I was
There! There upon the sand there she stood
The breeze blowing through her hair
She stood there staring at me
Like the stallion I could feel her, I could hear her, but she was not speaking
Her seemingly black hair glowing in the moonlight
The breeze softly blows and gently curls around her chin
Her eyes, locked on mine
They seemed to pierced me as if she were looking at my soul
Her hands quiet at her sides, her vulnerability was mine
She had been expecting me
She motioned and I stepped off my steed
She slowly walked towards me taking my hand
The black stallion now started to trot from hence we came
Turning softly and slowly to face her, still she didn't speak
But I knew deep down inside we were safe
Through her hand I felt a warmth gentle and true
We walked slow in it seemed no specific way
We walked all night into the next day
The morning light brought forth truths
Her elegance is proof that somewhere in life there was something still so beautiful
The unspoken word, silence
Something words don't darn describe
In the golden glow I look into her eyes
In them I see all that has happened and want cry
I see where the stallion had returned
I saw the monster I became
Just then it I knew it true,
That the girl standing next to me was everything I ever knew
Those days in the sand, in those streets she was there
Somewhere within the glisten of her eye all that was, was locked in the past
The place where the stallion even in its beauty will ever dwell
But now I am here
Captured by her gaze
Her beauty stunning
Her lips share the glow of the sun and her eyes the moon
Her skin reflect the opal blue of the ocean, at the same time the sands of the beach
Her hand holds the strength, but her gaze that holds me there
I hope she holds me there forever
Her dark hair reflecting that of the stallion forever reminding me of what was, what is, and what will forever remain
In happiness and love
