The Dark Place

The Dark Place

I will not go back ever again,

It was a lonesome road with a dead end destination,

It was a place of hate and confrontation,

Don’t take me back there again,

Do not look upon me and say that I am lonely,

I am alone for reasons of my tragedies and sin,

No matter how much I try I cannot win,

Within without, I must bare that I am the only,

An expectation that I had for my own selfishness,

I hurt me, I killed me, burnt me, and chastised me,

For I do not ever deserve what I once wanted to be,

Eternal bliss, warmth in this, a moment of selflessness,

That dark place, I took myself to and closed my eyes,

I remember that look you gave and I knew that things changed,

Dark, cold, empty, the thought of going insane,

I refuse for you to forgive me, that dark place now I realize9
