Dark Place
There is a dark place
Where good touches the skin of evil
And is disguised under a hideous cloak.
Where liars stoop down to their level
Underneath the black shadowed oak.
This place of forgotten kindness and virtue
Is cold with tangles of clammy branches
It is a place where the enemy targets you
Where death crumbles in avalanches
This cursed dungeon of regretful despair
Is expanding its walls into deeper depths
Now, sadly, it can be found everywhere
To the lost and lonely and all the inept.
Beware all of the dark wrath
Of the hidden stair steps that lead below.
We trip and fall down that wretched path
And then there is no place to go.
