Dark

Wed, 04/16/2014 - 12:52 -- Fahiru

Darkness.
It descends like rain.
Drizzling, softly
Softly.
Subtle and quiet
It claims the world
And the planet falls
Without protest.
Softly, softly
It falls.

My eyes are heavy
And dry
They stick
To my eyelids
Like gum to
A sidewalk
Like a grape
To its skin.
My eyes stick
And slide
So heavy
So dry.

I can hear my breathing
Falter.
I cannot feel,
But I can hear.
And my bones are crushing
Crushing
Deep into my lungs
Bottomless and cold
Empty
But unable to
Be filled.
A true vacuum
Beside my soul.
And it's crushing,
Crushing
And cold.

My hands
Are swollen
Dehydrated.
Purple.
The blood pumps hard
The tips feel as is if
They will peel and burst
Peel,
Peel away.

My hands are unsteady.
They shake
And they shiver.
I cannot keep a grip
On anything
But soon they will start
Peeling
Peeling
The skin will swell and burst.

My ears are pounding.
I can feel the pressure
Building.
The pop
And sting
Dull and painful
Whooshing
Pounding
Pounding
From this
I can't
Escape.

The birds are silent
And sorrowful
I can no longer hear
But my heart keeps pounding
Crushed, but pounding
Dark and sighing
Softly dying
Till the night descends
And the beatings cease
And my heart will pound
No more.
