Dancing in the Rain

Rain pours down

Pounding on the metal roof

Like the rumble of a relentless train,

Drowning out my thoughts.

Thunder so loud I can’t breathe,

Storm so big I feel like I am about

To be washed away,

A speck in the swirling maelstrom.

But as I peek out the window

At the chaos outside,

The clouds break apart

And in the flash of lightning,

I catch a glimpse of

The silver lining.

A reminder –

Better things are coming.

The storm’s rain brings life

To this barren ground

And all things will once again

Turn green and living.

Why fear the unknown?

Instead, I dance in the rain

And celebrate the new life

That is to come.
