daddy issues

Tue, 04/04/2023 - 12:16 -- layla_

comic book pages and

long winded movie reviews

anything i could do

to be special to you

popcorn and soda

characters tees

binging till 3am

for a moment of your time in the morn

for a while, it worked

you sat beside me

there was that connection

a little thin, maybe

but it was real

and i was young

and the only way i knew how to reach you was through some

action movies and superheroes

but i should've known

nothing gold can stay

you got tired of the movies

you said we could wait till they streamed

then it clicked

and i understood

standing in an empty theater

that was all it was for you

it was never about me

it was all superficial

it was just

a shield and a hammer and spider-man's webs

it never ran any deeper than that

not for you

i should've known from the start

there was a reason it all came so easily to me

i saw myself on that big screen too

and those daddy issues never really go away.
