To Dad
Dear Dad,
I hope you find this letter well.
Life's good, but now it's getting harder to tell
what college or major or lifestyle choice
I have to make before I move
into a place that's missing you.
And let me be honest,
my mentality is not at its best
not just because I'm lacking rest;
it's 'cause Depression's really testing me.
Dear Dad,
I know things have been rough for you
especially because your daughter's getting tougher too
paying bills and rent
must be stressful but I
swear things will get better over time
And my growing hair match
your wrinkling face
though you smile without a trace
of tiredness or spite or hate
towards the daughter whose been
weighing you down
from a future full of
nonexistant frowns
And I know you're worried deep inside
If the life I lead
is the right way to ride
but I dream of a day
when you can see
just how strong a girl
I've grown to be
And it'll all be thanks to you
Love always,
your precious Audrey
