Cursed womanhood

Location

To walk the streets in silence would be a comfort,

to be appreciated in a moral way a miracle.

To hold a man's stare and discover decentness,

to feel cherished rather than desired,

to accept compliments over leers,

is  this woman's greatest desire.

Through fictional encounters and imagination,

expectatives thread a sturdy sash of hope

concealing my heart and contrasting reality;

inciting an urge in me, to give in to solitude

and relish in its piety.

I have yet to discover the elation

of delineating beauty as a woman.
