By Cupid's arrow
of all the themes of life i love the most
is your silver self aglowing and sweet
in your heart's paradise, my own is lost
yet the joy therein is ever complete
to me, there cannot be a redder rose
not than the sheer holding you by the hand
nor can there be a bigger heart that grows
larger than what our love has made as grand.
so not a red rose nor scarlet ribbon
do i give you, but have my human heart
for the rose may fade, the scarlet be gone
yet my love for you shall never depart.
By Cupid's arrow, i've loved you, i say!
By his bow and quiver and every way.
