Crossing Borders

Inhale the diesel-like aroma of a downtown bus station.

Public transportation is where

  the poor

  the middle class

  the disabled

  the university students

  and the homeless

sit face to face.

You can pretend you're better than me

because my sweater has a hole in it,

but we're both on the same bus

going to same direction.
