Crossed-Legged At Family Functions

Be sure to smile

but don't say too much.

Be careful, kid,

they're on-to you this time.

Laugh although its-not-funny,

certain they are judging.

Put your hands away

no one should see them shaking

(thumbs quiver when they finish

burying your-very-nature

deep within the pile-of-peacock-feathers

under childish notions.)

Look polite and don't be distasteful,

All these people love you.
