Creak Creak

I stand in the attic

And say to myself

I need to fix those old rafters

Before the roof falls in

Creak Creak

I hold my wife close

And say to her

Honey, someday I’ll take you

On a date in France

Creak Creak

I pick up my baby boy

And whisper to him

Son, Someday I’ll teach you

To ride a big boy bike

Creak Creak

I come into work

And tell my boss

Sir, I will have that project done

As soon as possible

Creak Creak

I sit at home

And wonder why

I lost my job with the company

And can’t support my family

Creak Creak

I cry at night

And wonder why

My wife was diagnosed with cancer

And was taken from me

Creak Creak

I scream at God

And wonder why

The school bus was on the tracks

When the train came through

Creak Creak

I stand in the attic

And see myself

Strapped to the old rafters

Swinging to and fro

Creak Creak
