Courage

I opened my eyes and colors were foreign

All the more reason to close them again

Pressed flush against the summer heat

I know that time can only pass when I stop to think

But I don't think at all

The road seems endless, suspended

Under the clouds to keep us moving

The violent thump of a car radio to control my breathing

And trying to remember how it felt to have your eyes on me

But all I do is close my eyes

And dream of colors I've never seen

Think of all the hues in our night sky

The late-time news playing the soundtrack to my sorrow

But maybe, if we all speak

Itl'll be easier for us tomorrow.
