The woe of life

had moved into her eyes-

Sadness became second nature

Every day dragged her under,

Like a weight pulling her from the welcoming air above.

Yet drowning in the tears meant for her,

she did not cry.

“People cared,

but not enough.”

There was no one to save her,

she had to save herself

How many times would you pick yourself up,

when giving up is an option?

“Sometimes even to live is an act of courage.”

She fell many times from the tightrope of life,

She scraped her knees on the road to happiness,

the arsenal of names shot her down

but she stood up;

Maybe not standing tall,

but yet still standing.
