“Sweetheart” you said,
“Please listen my dear”,
My insides were squirming,
A side effect of fear.

“I love you a lot”, you said,
“...I won’t ever leave”,
But the world is cruel,
And so you caught the disease.

By your bedside i lingered,
For days and for nights,
As you continued to cough,
And I consoled your frights.

“I promised”, you said,
Tears stained to your cheek,
But the blood wouldn’t stop,
Till you slowly got weak.
