"The Commander's Horse"
Location
Oh, such a brightly coloured white with a mane just as bright
That stallion is a strong and beautiful sight
The commander's dear horse, it did rear
Half from shock of the kick, half from fear
But the front hooves, they landed
The commander commanded:
"Move out and charge! Seize the day!"
So they galloped and trotted down brae
After steel clashed with iron to let out a ring
After thousands had fallen in the name of the king
After the battle's long and drawn-out conclusion
"Victory!" was heard throughout the confusion
And although the battle was won by the glorious
It seemed, less and less, like something victorious
For dead in the field: the commander, the dominant
With his horse, ghostly white, making bloodstains more prominent
