Colored Fruit

The urban sun
Bearing the colored fruit
Blood on the concrete
Staining the seams
Black bodies
Laying in the summer streets
Colored fruit lingering
In front of innocence
Horrific scene
Of the rugged neighborhood
Those triggered fingers
And bandanas tied
The horrid scent of skin
Roasting on pavements
I present to you
The fruit
For the media to criticize
For the stereotypes to stick too
For you to pray for
For retaliation
For you to silently forget
This is
Race inflicted distress
