The Color Red

Tue, 05/06/2014 - 13:36 -- Kimmy88

Red is the color of love and hate,
I try to get out but I can’t escape.
I’m falling too fast;
A pack and a half a day.

And I waited so long
For you to come along,
But you never showed up,
You never called,
You never loved,

The way I needed,
The way I do—
The way I still,
I still miss you.

So I sat down
On the curb today,
Head in my hands.
I continued to wait.
I’m beginning to think
I’m stuck;
It’s a little too late.

Jeers and laughter
From the other room,
I was up all night
So I slept ‘til noon.
You didn’t seem to mind.
Hour by hour,
You’re still taking my time.

And you never loved me,
The way I needed,
The way I do,
The way I tried,
I failed to love you;
I’m still trying to love you.

Got back up
And I started to walk.
Fall came late,
Wishing I had a car.
I’d be out of here;
I’d be gone so far.
Could you let me know
Where you’re going?
I’m still here,
I’m waiting for you.

Those god-damned walls
Came down today,
But I can’t stop;
I’m beginning to hate
The idea of you,
Everyone. And who
Ruined me?
You ruined me.

Visited our curb yesterday,
Like I never left.
You came rushing back to me,
What’s happening?
You,
You are my demise.
The color black
Reflecting in your eyes.
You’re not winning this time
Because,

I waited so long
For you to come along,
But you never showed up,
No, you never called;
You never loved

The way I needed,
The way I do,
The way I still,
I still don’t miss you…
