A Cold Luau
The thing about the earth is that
It isn’t round
Because god made it like that.
It’s so the sound of my voice doesn’t
Touch yours.
If we were on opposing sides of the earth,
Our voices would wave
To each other but
Never
Shake hands.
My hands
Were never
Taught how to
Give a firm handshake.
They shake
From walking to the arctic
And holding snowflakes,
Yours are as warm as a bonfire
Because you
Are from Hawaii,
But I can’t dance at a luau
Because I still don’t know how to
Give a firm handshake
And never will.
