The glow of summer, now long gone.

In the quiet stillness of the deep snow and looming mountains

that stand solid around us as we constantly move,

it almost seems like summer will never come again.

But in our little heat fogged cabin, I could live in this land of winter for years and years.

But not for eternity.

No, not for forever.

Because when summer comes, your face will fade

and your arms will melt from their embrace

with no reason, no explanation, no care.

A disappearing breath on frozen air.

And I need that.

I need you to disappear for me.

Because when summer comes, I will be left alone

With decisions and choices and paths to follow

And you aren’t one of them.

And while you make my winter a wonderland

You have no place in my summer.
