Closing Night

The magnetism of the stage

Attracts the soul

Into a hollow hearse

Insomnia grips the drowsy soul

Torturing the weakened body

Somnolence brings the night to a close.

Curtains fall in the dead of the evening

A beat of the heart

Skipped

And fallen

To nothing other than the arena

A frail shriek

For help

Is lost

In the audience’s cheers

The misery goes unnoticed

But now her soul is numb

She doesn’t seem to mind.

She no longer cares, for no one

Can hear her whisper

Help.
