Climbing to the top

Location

My complexion is dark

It sort of leaves a mark

I mean I stand out and I leave that spark

The spark that ignites and unfolds

Unfolds the truth

The truth that I am not like everyone else

My community is low classed

Daily robberies daily crimes

Gangsters everywhere

Bullets in the sky

I live in the community in which you are told you won’t succeed

I proved them all wrong I am that “nigger” that enjoys school

The highbrow student

The smartest in my class but the saddest of them all

The truth is I’m on my own

Struggling with life

Striving for an education and a good future

No one loves me

No one is empathetic nor compassionate

Everyone laughs at me

And I will remain that “nigger” that enjoys school
