A Civil War Battle
He says, “her name sounds like a Civil War battle;
You know like the battle of Sara Vega or something.”
And Sara laughs as she always does and hides the truth behind her eyes
Sara laughs because her life is a battlefield and it makes perfect sense
Life constantly has her fighting and in the midst of casualties.
She likes the sound of it- the battle of Sara Vega
It makes sense because when she thinks she has finally won, another battle begins
And Sara jumps in headfirst never faltering and she’s always lying to those who love her
She says, “I’ve never gotten that before.”
Sara hates that everything in her life is a war she has to fight
And that she has no army beside her, she never has.
She is so tired and maybe this time— just maybe— she will let herself lose.
Sara thinks, “he is thinking of the battle of Saratoga”
Her life is no real battle to others and her name doesn’t really sound like it
No one cares and she will keep fighting until one day, she will finally be so tired of it all and lose.
