The Chronograph

Location

Tick

Tock

Two hands

On a clock

Six to twelve

At two o’clock

Five chimes ring,

Schoolhouse rock

Ticking red hand,

Metered like Bach;

Cursive Roman numbers

Twenty two in stock

Black, white, and red

The old jokes return

Hour, minutes, seconds

The end of school I yearn

LCD crystal or quartzite rock

Clicking clockwork in time

Tickety-tick tock
