The scuff marks are back on the floor

Chewed gum drops from under your desk

Your new jeans are ruined by the sicky pink

School is back

Kids run down the hall at the final bell

You dodge around them making your way

What you waited for all day is here

It's audition time

Your choral instructor smiles at you

It's your last first day in the performance room

He knows your voice, but you do your best still

You are music

You close your eyes as you step to the front

A smile forms on your lips when you part them

Notes come out and fill the air

You are happy

The freshmen clap and stare in awe

Lessons have done you well

This is your last first time

It's the best time
