For Charli

We met in the fall,

You were a puppy so small.

We grew up together for many years,

I remember all of our adventures together when nothing was impossible,

But then your owners got that call...

My aunt got a promotion which was great, but that meant you had to move away.

As we seperated I cried and cried, but no matter what I did the tears wouldn't dry.

However summer came and I got to see you again.

We spent weeks having fun, just like when we were young.

Then tragedy struck when your owners split, but it was for the best.

However, I would still take trips to see you, my old friend.

Through the years we both aged, I a teenager and you an old dog.

The last time I saw you I cried, but I didn't think it would be the last time.

Your fur was graying and you had slowed down, but to me i saw my puppy.

But trouble struck again and you needed to find a place to live.

You found another home that's true, but no words can describe how i felt,

When i found out they didn't take care of you

Now I'm left knowing that I'll never get to see you again.

Even though there is no way to let you know, I miss you more than you'll ever know.

I miss taking naps together, taking walks, and playing fetch.

I miss seeing you almost everyday and watching you age.

But I never though that I wouldn't ever see you again.

But I make this promise to you,

I'll adopy another, I'll change lives for you.

I'll go to school, I'll train dogs like you and make my dreams come true.

Since I'll never get the chance to tell you again, I'll say it in this poem,

Goodbye Charli, I love you and you will always be my best friend.
