Changing Trees

Life as I knew it, changed,

Going from palm to pine tree sways,

My ways had become estranged,

Sitting in the backseat, heading away

Away to a place, a new home

However this change wasn’t because of work or feeling lone,

It was because of an adoption within my own genome,

My biological mother could no longer hold her own,

Giving me away to my aunt,

Who could do better for me then she could,

This is when I knew, what I would want

Wouldn’t line up with where I stood,

However, these feelings changed,

Given time and a little faith,

They were quickly exchanged,

For new ones, who were full of hope,

hope for the future and for forgiving my past,

I grew up that day

As I watched the trees change.
