time to let our dreams fly free,

And it comes so easily, that is our way”

Girl scouts. Our purpose is to make the world a better place by getting young women involved in teamwork. Everyone wants to make their mark on the world. But where do you start? I’m going to say: Change you.

“Change the world”

Gangbangers rule the Southside of Chicago. Kids are afraid to go outside, and some can’t go one night without hearing the ringing of gunshots in the distance, the life of a child living in “Chiraq”. I can’t end gangbanging, everywhere I go there will be crime, but I can change myself. I hear about kids getting murdered on a daily basis, being murdered while walking home, shooting each other over some boy. But what can I do? I’m just one person right? Wrong. I can change me. I’m a leader, and those who are wise will follow my example.

“Come with me”

I will lead you down the right path, the path of prosperity.  I can help you see that you don’t need a gun and your fists to solve your problems, only the words of the wise and a little patience. I can help you realize bullying is unneeded and that lying gets you nowhere but caught in a web. I can help you see that you don’t need to hurt yourself and that someone does love you, that someone is me. As soon as you and I can get to this point we can start our own movement, a movement of unspoken peace. We don’t need an organization leader to tell us how to behave. We know ourselves.

When we get to this point we can tackle the world. What we must understand is that we cannot improve the world without knowing how to improve ourselves. How can we expect anyone control themselves and stop the harm they are causing to mankind if we cannot control ourselves? But when we get here our problems will be solved with ease. No more war, no more conflict. People will understand why prices on gas are rising, and why that can of pop is over $1. When we let our dreams fly, they will soar, and will never be shot down.

Change you. It’s just that simple. This needs to be the path we take. As soon as we, as the human race, can learn how to communicate and solve problems peacefully through self examination the world will be a better place.
