The Challenge of Vision

Location

In our society, there are many a view,

Scientific, mathematical, political too.

But take a look through my eyes, as few will do,

I’ll show you a vision of colorful hues…

Tell me your favorite, your color, if you will,

No fancy? No interest? Ah, but even Clear is there.

I call him Chameleon, all colors he sees,

Changes focus fairly quickly; blues, yellows, greens.

All, or few, it’s your choice to decide

Just don’t let your true self get hidden inside.

Privy to Ruby? Yes, the saying goes,

Red rose for passion, as all do know.

But don’t let your emotions get the better of you,

Or give in to anger as some often do.

(What of all the hues types, you ask? We’ll get there soon.

….you’d be amazed by the legion of blues.)

While conversing of blue, I will confess,

A longing for steady seas we’ll likely express.

Ah, but is there a con? Well, I’ll say!

At the expense of justice, for peace, you’ll stray.

But as with other colors, there is many a hue,

The potency depends on the mixture, uniquely you!

Continuing on our colorful itinerary,

Are you there, Yellow? Yes, actually quite frequently.

She who dwells in others, but let’s bring her out,

Let’s see what her bright rays are all about!

A sunny character, most certainly of light,

Luckily for you, not so harsh as White.

(‘Is that even a color’, you interrupt. ‘It’s but a shade!’

*sigh* Must you thinks so logically? Hear this, I say:

That a shade is color, believe it as so,

For it can alter perception! Now hush, on I must go!)

For Yellow, also, a less pleasant side,

At times air-headed or ditzy as some might chide.

‘Keep your head outta the clouds,’ they say, ‘Honey, you’re not a bird.’

(Ah, but if your goal is the stars, is it so absurd?)

But of course, how could I forget!

Black your forte? Others shouldn’t fret.

Sir Obsidian, bringer of darkness? Not necessarily true!

As Black, you’re one of shelter, and if that means solitude,

So be it, I decree! You’d simply rather be you!

But beware, O Onyx, lest the solo beast cometh

Bringing you suddenly into a very lonely plummet.

Alas, worry not! There is hope for you still!

Any aura can be changed, through the strength of will.

A few more colors, I suppose I’ll run through,

But quickly now, quickly! My lines become few!

Purple for love of beauty, pink may be cute,

Latter, red & white; former, red & blue.

Both have roots in passion, but not as potent, you see?

Also dark, or light, it’s your personality.

Be ye orange, or green? Yellow’s the common tie,

Yet to say these two are alike? Most certainly a lie!

Red with yellow? Much more eccentric are you,

Than the certain calmness in green, which is certainly Blue.

Alas! You’ve been patient, I did say we’d get there soon,

So let us swiftly discuss the pattern of color hues.

Simply mix and create, give a little, or take,

Understanding is the key to locating your colors place!

Recognize, also, the color categories,

(This is just as important as previous parts in the story!)

Vibrant, or simple, all can lean to one side,

Or perhaps you are both? Let your heart decide!

And there you have it, the world through my eyes,

While there aren’t many like me, it’s not a surprise.

People have grown indifferent, corporate, their sight growing dim,

From their unchanging offices, unable to view the color around them.

And so I challenge you, my fellow people, my brothers, sisters, friends,,

Show someone the world through my eyes, through color that never ends.

For God gave us this gift for a reason, so we can understand,

That difference is beautiful

And everyone is born equal

Every woman, child, and man.
