Caught
Location
I just walked out the house. What do you mean "Come here!"? I didn't put this on to impress you, just so we're both clear. I don't have to talk to you and I don't want to smile. Your cat calls are annoying and stop the yelling from a mile. I can still hear your whispers and psst from afar. I wish I didn't have to go through this anymore. I know you've heard this 1000 times before. My name isn't baby, sweetheart, or boo. Seriously, no more. I pick up the pace and you quickly follow behind. I swear I just walked out the house. Am I losing my mind? This has got to be a dream better yet a nightmare. You're telling me it doesn't even matter what I wear. Everyone can hear you, but my cries fall on deaf ears. You are about to confirm my worst of fears. In the end, no one will help me. After all, it was my fault. Had I not left home today, I wouldn't have been caught.

This poem is a very accurate description of what I feel whenever I walked through my front door. It really doesn't matter what I wear I will always get a stare down, a hiss, a call, or some weird compliment. "Hey Sexy!!!" Sigh. And rape, kidnapping and murder is just some of the scary stuff that frieghten me whenever a stranger(or someone I know vaguely) display weird behavior such as this. I cannot begin to fathom how many young girls and women alike are sold into sexually slavery, and labor slavery. Attitudes about women need to change. You did a great job!
What's sad is pretty much every woman has to deal with the worst of fears, and people still think they deserved it because of what they were wearing. It's scary as hell - THIS is scary as hell, because it's believable. Wish more people would read this and realize how terrifying it is being a girl.
