Car "Thief"
I am tired
I’ve finished a thirteen hour shift
at the hospital
It’s dark out
I can’t clearly see.
I climb into my black Jeep Wrangler
and pick up the keys in the middle console.
I head down the main road
Careful not to fall asleep
I bite my lip as I grow ever more tired
Lights blare behind me
Another car is tailgating me
I honk and drive on
The person persists to tailgate me
Frustrated I drive into my driveway
And run into my house
In the morning
The police knock on my door
I ask why they’re here
And then it hits me
The Jeep standing in the driveway isn't black
It’s blue
