The Candles That Burned

Two candles, laced with the scent of new
Carpets and men in their freshly pressed
Suits, stood towering waiting to celebrate.

Two flames, burning away at their very
Foundation and withering away to oblivion,
Danced in the crisp morning air.

Two colors, black and white that carry baggage
Of loath and judgement, that today joined
Hands to put out the flames.

Two flights, journeys that harmoniously put aside
Our differences and made all men equal, that
Changed the country with a single spark.
