caged

'i know why the caged bird sings'

i know why i've lost my wings,

how do you destroy a monster

without becoming one?

what have i not seen?

please don't forget me

hands and collarbones and eyes

lost in a sea of mirrors, my demise

glow in the dark stars

plastered on your ceiling

forgotten constellations

show how i am feeling

i am whole and you are whole

we are not two halves of each other

you make me full; complete

blinding smiles don't miss a beat

'i know why the caged bird sings'

it longs for the love of blooming spring
