Butterfly in a snow globe

Location

breaking free

I have heard it asked what lies behind my mask. Look, curious one, and try to see some likeness of the true "me".  I was born in a land nearby, where the seasons never change. But against my will I was taken away, long ago, to a land that seemed quite different and strange. The endless loneliness shattered my heart, now I’m just living, breathing broken parts. Long ago I forged a cage strong as a diamond to protect me from all the pain, the betrayal, and the lies. Now, my heart beats, trapped in a crystal world trying to break free with the strength of one million butterflies. Inside there is beauty you see, behind the hard strong crystal mask that has become me.
