The Bumblebee

A million ideas buzzes in my mind,

A billion things to do, working at my hands

A trillion things to think, bugging at me from behind.

Welcome to my world.

Each pollen is significant,

Each egg means celebration,

Each route told twice for safety and reassurance.

And yet each queen’s death is mourned greatly, like a dying star.

Our queen means everything.

Our hive means everything,

Our eggs and young means everything,

While our friends and me mean nothing.

It’s time to change our way of thinking,

Time to awaken from the olden ways,

Time to bring great change to tradition,

But can I do it?

Yes, I believe that I can convince them.

I believe that my ways would make the hive and the world better.

I believe that it is finally time to change.

And change it will.

No longer would we only mourn a queen’s death,

No longer would the higher bees distance themselves away from us,

No longer would our hives be attacked by bears,

And I intend to lead that.

So welcome to my world,

A world that is fast changing,

Are you ready?
