Broken

A trusting heart is broken in spirit from a beautiful man.

He slipped away as though he never loved her.

Never kissed her.

Never hurt her.

Somber skies remind her of him.

The way he promised love forever.

She sees fragile petals rushing in the wind...

Gone at the presence of Fall.

Fractured leaves turn to dust in late afternoons...

Colors lost with what he took...

He took her away from whom she used to be.

But he did kiss her.

He did hurt her.

Told her things...

He has taken the world,

Splintered her weak fingers like snapping tree twigs.

She cannot hold her frail body in her hands anymore.
