Bone Deep

There’s no solace for me

In flower or tree

The late autumn wilderness shivers and dies

How can it be

So lonely, empty

When under the year’s most sapphire blue skies?

The sun is so bright

And such a warm sight

Yet I feel shivers, cold deep in my bone

The birds flock in flight

Yet nothing seems right

For everything’s dying and I am alone
