Unfurling, rolling in thunderous lashes and -

greedy 

Incorrigible and precedented but

sleek as the trails of a viper -

in a vast desert

Long, concentrated discomfort 

grating, grating, grating -

and etching

But

the desert does have an end

and the viper's skin does shred -

until all that remains

with a single stroke of God's paintbrush

is a glistening, crystal zeal -

an azure untainted and fresh, clear scales
