Blue Barbells

At night
the blue barbells gain back their weight
they push on my shoulders
breaking blood vessels
drawing red lines
ruining me and making me ugly until
I sink to the floor and become a blue bruised heap
I am not strong enough
to hold them above my head
without the help of my yellow spot
He keeps the barbells at bay
he makes me strong-
until he wastes away in the dark
and I am left weak
as the blue barbells gain back their weight
