Our forefathers bled for us.
They took the pain of being
different away.
They fought against the
stubborn who would never
allow black people to have
rights.

The blood we bleed,
it comes from white people
who enslaved their black brothers.
It comes from black people who were
bound to their white brothers.
It comes from all people
of all kinds.

King bled for us.
His blood spilled so we will never
have to feel the pain he felt.
We will never experience what
it is like to be threatened
by our neighbors because
of our skin.

Parks bled for us.
Her blood spilled so that
any person can sit
anywhere on any bus seat.
So a black boy can sit next to
their best white friend without
any consequences.

My blood is the same as King's blood,
the same as Park's blood,
the same as Malcolm X's blood.

But my blood is also the same as
the white slave owners,
the same as the Klu Klux Klan,
the same as all the white supremacists.

I bleed the blood from the people who
needed change, who wanted a better future.
I bleed the blood from the people who
hated change, who wanted life to stay the same.

The blood we all bleed is the same,
if you are negro or white,
if you are a civil rights activist or a white supremacist.

My blood is your blood, my white sister.
My blood is your blood, my black sister.
My blood is your blood, my white brother.
My blood is your blood, my black brother.
