Blinded by Darkness

Blinded By Darkness

The sins of the past obscure the vision of the future;

I embrace an endless cycle;
Waters of sin and shame helplessly tidal
I am moving but forever idle;
A future stuck behind a past recital

They defile the parts of me I desire, taking with them all hope of an escape from the patient fire
Within me there once was a dream; through the darkness a distant eye would gleam
Through her eyes I saw the man I should be; a man whose reflection is locked away for none to see

I despise my every breath;
Silence the beginning of death
I am free but forever enslaved;
A prosperity broken by thousands depraved

The heart of the wicked is close to me, closing my eyes to the light beyond the blackened sea
Voices grew as I through the years; planting hatred into the mind of my peers
Through her eyes I saw all that I had lost; a once bright forest slain by a violent frost

I reach to the lights above;
Yearning for a glimpse of love
I am welcoming but forever unwelcome;
A man doubting how far he has come

The prince of the abyss binds my hands, whispering to me the questions this world misunderstands
Spirits reminded me of the evil I have seen; shame a fatal disease with no vaccine
Through her eyes I saw all that we could have been; darkness rises to kill the hopes of man once again

The vision of the future brings forward the sins of the past;
