Black Dog

Location

Australia

It’s there…

Where? ... Under the stairs.

Waiting watching, … while you’re unaware.

Yes,

all the time, it’s just lurking there.

It does nought, but sit and stare.

Beware,

'cause it's you it wants to overrun,

to reave your mind till damage done.

and,

Needing neither food nor drink,

it's creeping closer, black as ink.

With,

it’s only goal to consume,

Any and all in the room.

And,

When its on you, you will know,

And pleading, pleading to make it to go.

Yes,

you may teeter on that crumbling precipice,

with oblivion beckoning from that dank abyss.

So,

fear the darkness, when it does arrive,

and do your best to just survive.

But,

to avoid the dogs loathsome bite,

you must fight with all your might.

If,

you don't, it will easily win,

and terror will arise from within.

But, ....

just remember, ... it’s always there,

Waiting, ... watching, ...  under the stairs.

This is how I felt when something I had hidden away in my mind for 20 years escaped and started to destroy me..
